This was the first vehicle I used when I went for appointments during my first year in real estate.
I had just completed National Service then. Being a property agent was going to be my first REAL job.
This motorcycle only has a $1k downpayment – cheaper than a Macbook laptop.
I remembered closing a few $2-million property deals with this motorcyle. Rode this bike everywhere when I went for viewings.
Recently, I saw someone who was soaking wet after riding under the rain.
I was suddenly reminded again about my Honda Wave.
There was once when I rode under the rain and approached the security guard.
He casually told me “Dispatch parking there” and pointed to me to move to a parking lot next to the rubbish collection bin 🤣🤣🤣
At that moment – it really hurt me.
But luckily I didn’t give up.
And still managed to survive along the way.
It is also the only job I had for the past 13 years.
2020 is my 13th year.
Real Estate Is An Entrepreneurial Journey
When I started to drive and become more equipped with more experience and knowledge – I notice my results seemed a lot “louder” when compared to the time I just rode a bike.
That was when I noticed that it was the skills and the experience that determines your result.
Not the car you drive.
Touch your heart and ask yourself –
“Do you want your clients to engage you because you have a nice car/watch/belt or because you are genuinely concerned about helping them?”
It is the attitude and how much you want to win that makes a difference.
Many people has asked me out for coffee. And some are willing to wait for me because they want to learn.
However for some people, I had to find a seat and wait for them for more than 30 minutes.
I don’t mind waiting as people who know me well – will know that I always try to reach early.
I am used to waiting for others.
But it also reflects the attitude on how much you want to win.
😉😉😉
Building & Growing a Team
It took me some time but thanks to excellent leaders and mentorship – I slowly managed to grow my real estate business into a fulfilling career.
I sincerely believe getting paid is just a result of creating and adding value to my clients.
I made mistakes along the way and while it is a good way to learn – it is also a PAINFUL way to learn.
What I noticed is that for most property agents – what they need the most is an evaluation of their business model and some guiding hands to point them in the right direction.
